OnGo Alliance Names Betacom as the 2021 OnGo Award Winner for Excellence in Enterprise Deployment

Private wireless network leader recognized for innovation in the second annual OnGo™ Awards

BEAVERTON, Ore., – February 22, 2022– Wireless pioneer Betacom, an enabler of Industry 4.0 through private 5G wireless networks, today announced that its smart airport deployment at Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) Airport has been recognized as a 2021 OnGo™ Award winner in Excellence in OnGo Enterprise Deployment. OnGo Award winners were selected based on their distinctive business models, ease of deployment, cost savings, new service offerings and cutting-edge technology, delivered over CBRS spectrum.

DFW is at the forefront of airport modernization with its Innovation-ITS 5G Private Network Business Case program. The airport is trialing a private 5G network for increased baggage handling accuracy and efficiency. Betacom is working with DFW to fulfill the requirements for its “Connected Ramp” trial initiative, incorporating modern connectivity into its operations. Betacom 5G as a Service allows DFW to securely run their mission-critical applications without interference and helps to speed up baggage handling and reduce lost baggage costs using OnGo-enabled scanners.

“This year’s winners and finalists showed great promise for the future of the wireless connectivity market as we approach widespread 5G NR adoption and the increased need for secure, reliable connectivity to support our day-to-day communications,” shares OnGo Alliance Executive Director Alan Ewing. “We look forward to seeing the continued growth of OnGo-enabled devices, technology and private networks as they look to reshape the use of shared spectrum across various industries.”

The winners were selected by a panel of judges led by Joe Madden, Founder and Chief Analyst at Mobile Experts. Joining him were: Melissa Ashurst, CEO at Impact Broadband; Martha DeGrasse, freelance journalist; Iain Gillott, Founder and President at iGR; Mark Lowenstein, Managing Director at Mobile Ecosystem and Monica Paolini, Principal at Senza Fili.

Private 4G/5G networks have incredible potential to revolutionize the way that many industries, including transportation, manufacturing, and logistics, conduct their business and accelerate progress as they implement their Industry 4.0 strategies. However, design, deployment and management of these complex networks can be strong barriers to realizing the benefits. Betacom 5G as a Service enables enterprises of all sizes to eliminate these barriers.

“Today’s recognition underscores Betacom’s ability to help organizations advance their Industry 4.0 strategies, manage their limited resources and embrace new business models in the process,” says Johan Bjorklund, CEO of Betacom. “DFW was looking for a reliable, high performance private wireless network that they could deploy as a secure foundation for airport and stakeholder services, and we were thrilled to be able to provide trial results that outperformed their expectations.  They now have the confidence to move forward with planning an airport-wide private wireless network to enhance services for travelers, concessionaires, and their airport partners.
